I recently read Gretchen Rubin's 'The Happiness Project.' For those who haven't read it, it's very inspiring. Like the kind of inspiring that makes you want to go climb a mountain. ANYWAY, the idea of the happiness project is that she would set her self three goals each month in order to make herself more happy, throughout the month she would perfect these goals and they would become part of her daily routine, the goals would slowly build up and by the end of the year she had 36 goals.
I was pretty inspired by Ms Rubin's book, even if it was a bit repetitive. It actually inspired me to do a similar thing. I skipped the NYE resolutions this year (no one keeps them anyway) and instead I plotted out my 'Better Yourself Project.' I decided I would focus on Health and Exercise in February, School Work in March, Music in April ET CETERA ET CETERA. Some of my goals for February are 'eat more slowly so you can enjoy food' and 'do 10 000 steps per day.' Throughout the month, I will work on perfecting these goals so I can continue to do them throughout the year.
I was pretty motivated by my quest to becoming a better person, until a thought occurred to me. What if this idea fades into the blue? What if I don't have the persistence to do this for the whole year? I have been in this situation before anyway; you get excited about an idea, you think about it, you make a cute word document for it AND THEN life happens and procrastination hits you in the face and all of a sudden your idea is gone.
I was determined not to let that happen so I decided to blog about it to make it more official and (hopefully) motivate me to do it.
So I skipped January because a) I'm on holiday and b) I couldn't get organised THAT quickly but for February I have BIG PLANS. February is a bigger month than any other because I have some general goals to start out with as well as my February goals.
- Take a mint or herbal tea to school in a thermos every day.
- Wake up around 6:45 - 7:00
- Go to bed before 10
- Blog twice per week.
- Be more grateful.
February - Health, Diet and Exercise
- 3 - 4 hours of exercise per week
- Take up a new type of exercise
- Eat slowly and enjoy food
- 10, 000 steps per day
So, I'll start the year out with a bit dose of motivation and hopefully persistence is on my side.
Mammoth amounts of love,
PS. If anyone wants to join in on The Better Yourself Project than comment below, I would love to have more people joining in!
