HOW TO: Have A Long Weekend

Weekends are a good thing. By the end of the week I'm usually practically down on me knees begging for a break and will run away if anyone asks me to do anything that requires effort. The only problem with weekends are that they are super short. Like the weekend is there and then all of a sudden 'WHAT IT'S MONDAY ALREADY.'

Ok there in two ways in which your can extend your weekend. The first is to just ditch Monday. Call in sick (DIY fake cough). But you know that's not really what I call a permanent solution.

That brings us to the second point. On the weekend I had an epiphany. I had a good weekend but more importantly it seemed reaaallllyyyyyy long. 'Why is this?' I thought to myself. 'What is it that's making this weekend seems so luxuriously long and holiday-like.' AND THEN I realised. I was doing cool stuff and I was doing a lot of it.

I spent my weekend making jam (pictures coming soon), reading Eat Prey Love, buying flowers, drinking multiple coconuts, going to see family, going canoeing on Sydney harbour and I also went to a pretty freaking awesome party with the most amazing cake ever. I felt like I was mirroring my life to the one you see documented on Cupcakes and Cashmere.

So my point is that I know it can be super appealing to spend your whole weekend watching Gossip Girl and eating Nutella with a spoon (which is an awesome thing to do, I know?) I think we can get more out of weekends and furthermore our lives if we GO OUT AND DO LOTS OF COOL STUFF.

So that was my epiphany, which I thought I would share with the Internet.

Have an amazing, amazing, amazing, SUPER DUPER COOL week filled with unicorns and rainbows,
Isabella xo

  1. So true! My weekend seemed to go on forever as I was out and about and as busy as a bee (which is quite energizing). As much as I love lazy Saturdays - doing stuff - real stuff is much better :-)

  2. I found this out one weekend. The longest weekends happen when there are plenty of activities. But I have been known to do exactly as you described: eating nutella with a spoon watching Gossip Girl.

Glad you had an enjoyable weekend ;)
